At the invitation of ABB, Dadi Group established the badminton team of “Detong-Dadi united team” to participate in the first Challenge Cup Badminton friendship tournament held by ABB Electric Business Department in Tianjin. The “Detong-Dadi united team” established by Dadi Group was composed of badminton fans of Dadi Group Tianjin Detong Electric Co., Ltd. and Coal Preparation Design and Research Institute. There were three games in the tournament, namely men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. Each game adopts best two out of three and 15 points.

In the first round of the group match against Tianjin Ruineng Electric team, Li Shaoning from Coal Preparation Design Institute took the lead. In the case of losing the first round, he adjusted his mentality in time, played steadily, and succeeded in counterattacking two games, winning 1 point. The second game was composed of veteran MU Guangbin of Detong electric company and rookie GE Xianhao of Coal Preparation Design Institute. They gave full play to their technical and tactical advantages and competition experience, won the next two games in a row, and got another point. The mixed doubles competition is composed of Rong Liping, a senior badminton expert of Coal Preparation Design Institute, and GE Xianhao, a rookie. The opponent was fierce in the competition. However, due to our high skill, we suppressed the opponent’s counter attack, winning two games in a row, winning 3 points.

The second game of the group match against Tianjin Huaning team, the two sides were of equal level and the game was fierce. The first men’s singles match was played by CAO Rongkui, a young engineer from the Coal Preparation Design Institute. In the end of the three games, he lost points by a small margin. The second men’s doubles match was bound to be won. We sent MU Guangbin and GE Xianhao to play. The first two games each won one game and the game was a 1: 1 draw. After the tiebreaker reached 10 draws, due to our mistake, we lost the game at the score of 1: 2. In the third round, RONG Liping and GE Xianhao, the best combination, participated in the game. After a poor pursuit, they finally recovered 1 round and advanced to the top 16, ranking No.2.

In the 16-8 phase of the knockout competition, we met the strong opponent Tianjin Renoir urban construction team (later won the championship). We sent out the strongest team to fight, but we finally stopped because of the great disparity in strength.

During the game, players WANG Xuehui and HU Jinpei cheered for the contestants, and provided very good logistics support. After the match, CHENG Yongliang, a sideline guidance from Coal Preparation Design Institute, summarized the game. The main reasons for losing points were less playing and practising, remote sense and feeling, and too many mistakes. In the future, training needs to be strengthened.

Through this competition, the friendship between the employees of Dadi group was stronger and the communication channel with ABB company was more smooth. We all agreed that we should organize more similar fraternity matches after work, keep fit, work harder and have a happier family!
